What is a JSON Formatter?
JSON, or JavaScript Object Notation, is a text format commonly used by APIs, web applications and software configuration files. Compact JSON is useful for computers, but it can be difficult for people to read.
AllStoic JSON Formatter parses your JSON and adds indentation and line breaks so nested objects and arrays are easier to inspect.
How to use the JSON Formatter
- Paste JSON into the input field above.
- Select Format JSON.
- AllStoic validates the JSON and formats it using readable indentation.
- Use Copy to copy the formatted JSON to your clipboard.
JSON example
Compact JSON:
{"name":"AllStoic","tools":250,"categories":["developer","security","finance"]}
Formatted JSON:
{
"name": "AllStoic",
"tools": 250,
"categories": [
"developer",
"security",
"finance"
]
}
JSON validation
Formatting requires valid JSON. If the input contains an error such as a missing quote, extra comma or unmatched bracket, the formatter will report the parsing error instead of changing your data.
Privacy
This formatter runs directly in your browser using JavaScript. JSON entered into this tool is not uploaded to the AllStoic server.
You should still avoid pasting passwords, authentication tokens or other secrets into any tool unless necessary.
